RVing is about freedom, discovery, new places & friendly faces.

I stole this title from an “RV Life” email I received the other day. How true. What I like the most about RV Life is the freedom. Full time RVers have to be flexible. We’ve discovered many new places and we’ve stayed in over 100 different campgrounds. Lots of friendly faces at Chestnut Ridge Campground.

We have two home away from home campgrounds. One in Florida and one in Ohio. Right now, I am in Ohio at Chestnut Ridge Campground. I love it here. This campground has a variety of sites, from Full-Hook-up 50 amp sites to tent sites. The owners are very nice people. Don works hard daily to keep the campground looking nice. Denise runs the office. Together they make a great team. Besides a few trains that go by daily, this campground is quiet and the campers are friendly. A lot of them are seasonal campers.

Speaking of the trains, I like trains. From our site, we can actually see the trains through the trees. Hubby is always making a comment like “that train has three engines”. The only time I do not like trains is when I am driving somewhere and I have to wait for the train to pass. The trains that pass by Chestnut Ridge do not bother me at all.

Chestnut Ridge campground is full this Memorial Day weekend. Lots of seasonal and lots of weekend warriors.

It stormed all day yesterday. I offered to run Bingo while we are in the park. We are here for two months in the spring and one month in the fall. Around 50 people showed up for Bingo. The park gives out gifts for Bingo, especially because kids are allowed to attend. We had a table of prizes for all ages.

I did a huge project a week ago. Our kitchen/living area has vinyl flooring everywhere EXCEPT for where the slide out is. Our carpet was a mess and I could not stand to look at it anymore. We ordered the carpet from General RV in Ocala Florida. The carpet was rather cheap, but the shipping was more expensive than the carpet. The carpet was an exact replacement of the carpet I removed. With Hubby’s back problems, I did most of the work removing and replacing the carpet. Hubby did help me a little pulling the carpet out of the stapled areas. He also helped sweep up the area. The first image is after the carpet was removed and the second image was after I installed the replacement. I do have to admit, it was a little harder of a chore that I thought it would be but it was well worth the cost and the efforts involved.

I did some decorating outside. On Mother’s day, my sister, nieces and I went to Chuck’s Greenhouse. I bought a big flowering plant for the front of our RV. It barely fit in the SUV.

I bought a new garden flag and flag holder.

We brought our weather station and our bird feeder with a camera with us and put it outside of our rig.

We have much privacy when sitting on our deck, but the Cherry trees have crap falling out of the trees. I bought netting so we can sit without having the crap falling on us and our fur kids.

Every year before Memorial Day, my sister and I visit two cemeteries to put flowers on our deceased family’s graves.

My father served in World War II. I remember some of the stories he told me about his duties in the war. I wish I could remember them all.

On this Memorial Day, remember and honor those who gave everything for our freedom. Their bravery and sacrifice are the foundation of our liberty. Let us take a moment to reflect on their contributions and express our deepest gratitude. #MemorialDay #HonorAndRemember

May the light of faith guide your journey. Thank you for being a part of mine. I look forward to sharing more with you in future posts. God Bless and Stay Safe!

  1. I love trains as well. I find the train museum that happens to be close to our campsite and we go see it. There are so many train museums. If you ever get to North Platte, Nebraska, you can see the largest train yard in the world! It is an active train yard and we got to see them taking apart trains and putting them together. The long trains come in two sizes, 1 1/2 miles long and 3 miles long.
