13 Days Until we Leave, 20 Days Until we Arrive.

It’s 13 days until we leave Oak Alley and head to our home base. I am slowly getting things ready.

Today, we had our Mobile Technician (Dusty) do a few things for us. Last year, he did a small repair on our roof. Today, he checked to make sure it was still okay. He did find two small places that needed attention and it only took. him a few minutes to fix them. Our back awning needed adjustment and he adjusted it. When we put the awning out and pulled it back in, it did not come in the whole way and Hubby had to get on the ladder and ratchet it in manually. Now that Dusty adjusted it, the awning comes in without the manual ratchet.

Hubby has to check the air pressure in all of our tires. We have three on each side. He also has to lube the Slide-Out tracks.

I bought a Valterra RV Adjustable EZ Hose Carrier with Lockable Door Cap. Ashley’s Husband Michael will bolt it to the bottom of our RV next to the existing one. We need more storage for our sewer hoses.

Michael will also get on our roof and using a leaf blower, he will blow the debris from our rain gutters on the roof of our RV. This will help us immensely. I do not want Hubby to climb up the ladder and get on the roof.

We have one storage compartment in the 5th Wheel. Most RV’s have more than one compartment. Our 5th Wheel only has one because it is a toy hauler and the garage is supposed to be able to be a section of the RV where things can be stored. Since my bedroom is in the toy hauler garage, this area cannot be used for storage or toys such as motorcycles or golf carts.

Speaking of Golf Carts, we sold ours. We never used it and each winter, we had to buy new batteries because we were not able to disconnect or charge the batteries during the summer months.

I have to organize our storage compartment and our shed. I have to figure out what we are taking and what we are leaving behind in the shed.

A few days before we leave, i will start to secure the inside of the 5th Wheel.

We are giving our plants to friends of mine. We can’t take them with us and we can’t keep them on our site without watering them. Because they are still in flower pots, they wont survive the summer without constant watering.

A lot of people i know are leaving and not returning for numerous reasons. A lot of people I know are buying park model homes and staying. These homes along with installing utilities and cement driveways are costing upwards of $100,000. First of all, I would not want to spend summers in hot, hot, hot humid, hurricane Florida. Second, if I were to permanently stay in Florida, it would not be at Oak Alley. Im ready to leave. Staying put for six months is my limit. After the summer is over, I will be ready to come back.

Stay tuned for updates of me going crazy getting everything done.

May the light of faith guide your journey. Thank you for being a part of mine. I look forward to sharing more with you in future posts. God Bless and Stay Safe!
