Month stays are much less expensive than weekly or even daily. The “pro” is the reduced rate. The “con” is we are pretty much stuck there? Most campgrounds do not refund if you leave early. If we are going to be somewhere for a month that I’ve never previously stayed, I have to do a lot of research. I begin my research using a program called “RV Life Trip Wizard”. This is both an online program and an app on my IPhone. I’ve been using RV Life Trip Wizard for almost five years now and it has never let me down. There is an annual fee for this program, but it is well worth the cost.
I begin my research by first deciding where we want to go. We decided on an area close to Finger Lakes. I also wanted a campground near water.
I have four requirements before reserving a site:
- We need a large lot, preferably a pull thru
- We prefer full hookups with 50 amps
- We need a campground that allows three dogs. Many have a 2 pet limit.
- I only research campgrounds that have at least four stars.

After much research, my selection was Daisy Barn which is located on the shores of picturesque Lake Ontario in Niagara County, not far from Niagara Falls, NY. This campground has 90 full hook-up RV sites and they all have a view of Lake Ontario. I had to call there knowing it is winter up north and most campgrounds are closed for winter. I left a message and hope they called me back. Some campgrounds do not return my calls even when they are open for the season. Daisy Barn called me back within a few days of my leaving a message.

They have almost five stars. They offer 50 amps. They allow three pets.

The reviews are awesome. Below is just one example.

Our site reserved is 57, backed up to the pond.

The monthly Rate for full hookup is $1,600.00, Includes WiFi & Electric and the deposit was very reasonable. I reserved weeks ago and did not get a confirmation by email yet. He did mention if there is a cancelation, he would move us closer to the lake. Maybe he is waiting. If I do not get a written confirmation soon, I will message him.
Our three fur kids are welcome. The rules state: Pets must be leashed. No longer than 8 foot at all times and at the other end of the leash must be the adult.
One of the campground rules states – no swimming in Lake Ontario. I do not want to swim in Lake Ontario. lol
They will be open for the solar eclipse. April 6-9, 2024 but we won’t be up North for the solar eclipse. We will still be in Florida. The solar eclipse will be. seen by those in our home base in Ohio.
May the light of faith guide your journey. Thank you for being a part of mine. I look forward to sharing more with you in future posts. God Bless and Stay Safe!
