My schedule for work camping is 26 hours a week for FHU (full hookups) on a large corner site and free electricity at a nice resort in central Florida. I worked from 9 am to noon today. I will also work a few hours this afternoon to help out for our St. Patty’s Day event. We are holding an all you can eat meal event to celebrate. The special meal is Corned Beef and Cabbage. This is a classic Irish-American dish of tender corned beef brisket slow cooked with cabbage, potatoes and carrots. We sold tickets in advance. Our kitchen managers (Dawn and Bill) are the best ever. Dawn cooks all of the meals for our big events and every once in a while, she will cook something special in our Snack Shop. Her meals are home cooked meals from scratch. She is amazing. I told her that if I lived with them, I would weigh over 300 pounds. That is how great her cooking is. And she loves to cook. She goes above and beyond. Some of the meals she cooks reminds me of my mom’s cooking. Mom passed away in 2013 so I have not had good home cooked meals since then, until Dawn came along.
I am the Assistant Activities Director and I report to the Activities Director named Ashley. Ashley is so creative and organized. She is the creator and organizer of all events and I am what I call the Do-er. She does not live in the park. She has a stick and bricks home. She has a wonderful husband and three lovely children.
Every year we have a huge “end of season” party to thank all of our resort’s residents and guests. This year it is on the 26th of March. It takes hours of preparation for us. This year theme is Woodstock. I already bought an outfit on Amazon and I can’t wait to wear it. I will look like a hippy from the past.
Mornings here in central Florida have been so foggy. This past winter has not been the greatest weather wise. We were spoiled last winter. Nights have been in the low 40s. Days have been dreary. I wore my long jeans almost every day. It started to warm up a week or so ago. It is still better than up North.
42 days until we head North!
Along with working in the Activities department, I’ve been busy reserving campgrounds for our trip home on April 28th. I’m also working on our summer travels from July 7th until September 11.
We only travel 3 to 4 hours daily so our trip home will take us a week. Our first stop will be in Perry Florida at a KOA for one night. After being stationary for six months, I like our first stop to be a closer one. We like this KOA campground. The sites are long and level and we never have to unhook if we are just staying one night.
The next two stops are also KOA campgrounds. Our fourth stop is a state campground in Kentucky that I love. We have a corner site way in the back where it is very quiet. Then we stay at one more KOA before we get to our destination campground in our home base town.
There are quicker routes. I chose this one because the roads are better.

Until my next post, may the light of faith guide your journey. Thank you for being a part of mine. I look forward to sharing more with you in future posts. God Bless and Stay Safe!
